Happiness and Dreams

Image
Hi Everyone -- I trust you, family and friends are doing OK.  In this blog, I am going to share little about my casual conversations with the workers in farm, while they were working very hard.  What is it about: Happiness and Dreams. Please see below picture.  Workers (Contractors) are actively peeling coconut shell in my farm.   We harvest coconut once in 50 days. Once plucked from tree, they are all brought to a common place and then we invite contractors to take out the shell and then give the coconut to traders by per kg basis. Old days, harvesting used to happen by climbing. i.e. Persons used to climb the tree, and pluck from there. Now a days, everything happens from ground itself. i.e. In a long stick, sharp knife is attached and from ground itself they pluck coconuts. OK, coming to the discussions... When I entered my farm, they were busy peeling. I was watching for few minutes without asking any questions. I was just simply watching, noticing the focus of those folks, perf

Weekend Release... (drumstick vegetable)

This is not about Software Release over the weekend. :)... It is all about, how we release drumstick or moringa from our farm, over the weekend.   I wish farm products reach consumers on the same day, like CI/CD with zero-down-time. :) Unfortunately, farm products take around few days to reach end consumers. Please read further, if you are interested. :) Hello - Hope you, family and friends are doing well. In this blog, I will discuss about, how we pack, release fresh and quality drumstick or moringa from farm, to either local dealers or local market.  Dealers take care of distributing to retail shops or small shops, and consumers buy this vegetable from shops. Below image shows, a quality and ready to be plucked drumstick from tree.  If the tree is small, it can be easily hand-picked up. Or, we need a stick to knock it from a tree. We usually have 3 or 4 people to do this on a fine-day. We usually assemble all the plucked drumsticks in one place, like below.  We keep this in a shadow

Am I a Proud Farmer? (vivasayi)

My dad always told me, in last few years that, farming does not give any profit, if you are SMALL. He was a full time farmer (I know, we had paddy fields, tomato, chillies, brinjal harvesting when we were kids).  Most of our summer holidays, weekends were spent only in farms.  We had lots of cashew fruits, drumsticks, bananas too. One day, dad told me that, he is going to sell the farm and buy some land within city limits, which will give great appreciation.  We could build good multiplex, halls, shops ets and make good income. I asked him, why - he said that there is NO profit and the money we get from farm is enough ONLY for expenses.  I did not believe that, and said I will take care of the farm and expenses. Thatzhow I got into this world of agriculture. I do work in IT industry and take care of our farm too. Now a days, I am directly involved in few agricultural stuffs and I know little bit. :). I do not make that much profit, but I still experiment and have fun. What I am
