  As the SUN sets on 31st Dec 2020, I have started writing this...  This picture is taken from Kanyakumari, sun set view point. Hope everyone is doing OK. We did sail through the toughest year and a historical year.  Looking back about year 2020:  It was 1st Jan 2020, 12:00 am, as usual I stayed late to wish everyone a Happy New Year, saw few crackers showing up in the sky and went to bed. Got up in the morning, checked all new year wishes and wished everyone back.  So, What's next?...  New Year Resolutions (NYRs). I decided to swim at least once in a week, since my apartment has a nice pool. Got into the pool, did other usual activities, prayers etc, and my day was made on 1st Jan 2020. :) January: I was able to maintain my NYRs... (New Year Resolutions...) February: I traveled to USA in first week.  USA Immigration took more than 5+ hours.  Can you imagine? It was very unusual for a developed country to take this much time in immigration.  History started here.. Think

One Nation, One Ration - My first experience ...

Image
Hello Everyone -- Namaste :). Wishing everyone a very happy and safe Diwali. Hope you are all doing well. In this blog, I will share my experience, as a first time visitor into a ration shop. First of all, great HATS OFF to this scheme, "One Nation, One Ration Card".  My wishes to this scheme, to be more stable and success soon. I never expected in my life that I will visit a ration shop, though I hold a ration card for a longer period. Ration card is one of the primary and unique identities in India, since this lists down all family member details. All other cards (PAN, DL, Aadhar, PP etc) are individual identities.  Ration card is unique and it displays your spouse and kids details as well. Here is the story....   Last few weeks, my parents were reminding me that, I have to visit ration shop to activate my ration card with my thumb print. Hence I visited the ration shop.  First visit, of course and I was bit excited and prepared too. :)  Obviously I have to give up all my e

Customer Service was good, but how about Field Service technicians/engineers?

Hi Everyone -- Namaste. Hope you, family and friends are doing well.  Wishing everyone a happy and safe Navratri celebrations. Our season of festivals starting, hoping corona virus leaving the world sooner. In this blog, I will discuss about my recent experience with my internet service provider, as a customer. What do you guess from below image?.... These folks are field service technicians or engineers, who are working with internet service provider as full-time employees.  Of course, everyone maintaining social distance for sure. Here is the story...  I raised a ticket to shift my internet connection from one place to another place. As usual, I got a confirmation number for this request with my preferred date and it was honored. On the day of shifting, first technician called me, asked about the address, checked my availability, came to my address, evaluated the options and confirmed that shifting is possible.  I was all set. Day goes... Team 1 (2 folks - Cabling Team) called me, as

Weekend Release... (drumstick vegetable)

Image
This is not about Software Release over the weekend. :)... It is all about, how we release drumstick or moringa from our farm, over the weekend.   I wish farm products reach consumers on the same day, like CI/CD with zero-down-time. :) Unfortunately, farm products take around few days to reach end consumers. Please read further, if you are interested. :) Hello - Hope you, family and friends are doing well. In this blog, I will discuss about, how we pack, release fresh and quality drumstick or moringa from farm, to either local dealers or local market.  Dealers take care of distributing to retail shops or small shops, and consumers buy this vegetable from shops. Below image shows, a quality and ready to be plucked drumstick from tree.  If the tree is small, it can be easily hand-picked up. Or, we need a stick to knock it from a tree. We usually have 3 or 4 people to do this on a fine-day. We usually assemble all the plucked drumsticks in one place, like below.  We keep this in a shadow

Dhoni = Winning Team

 Hi Everyone -- Hope everyone is doing OK, during this extended locked down period.  Today is complete locked down in Tamil Nadu-India, i.e. everything is shut down except hospitals. I started writing this blog post lunch... :) In this blog, I will share my thoughts and comments about "M.S.Dhoni's leadership", who was leading Indian Cricket Team close to a decade.  Last week, he retired from international cricket, and all the cricket fans are talking about this. Everyone talked about Dhoni's leadership qualities like below: Stay Calm Stay Grounded Lead From Front Encourage Team members to perform Share credits / failures with teammates Also, every where I saw Dhoni's leadership lesson articles. I completely agree on the above.   Every manager and every executive will agree on the above too. I will make one more comment: DHONI = WINNING TEAM What is it all about? Cricket is a team game. The game is completely AGILE. i.e. You start the game by tossing a coin and you

E-Pass: Is it Electronic Pass or Exam Pass or Entry Pass?

Image
  Hi Everyone --   Hope you, family, relatives and friends are doing well.   In this blog, I will mention about my experience with e-pass. https://tnepass.tnega.org/   (We have a rule or system in place within TamilNadu - India, where you need to get e-pass in this system, if you would like to travel between districts within the state)   I am really confused whether it is electronic pass, or entry pass or exam pass!.   I really mean it, because the happiness is so much after getting the e-pass. :). You feel like, you passed exam.   First of all, I really want to THANK the folks behind every approval and every rejection . They have been doing good job for sure.  Also, the system ( https://tnepass.tnega.org/) has improved a lot in last few weeks. It was very rough when it was launched. Thanks to the technical team as well .  The system is in place, to control corona spread and also to help the needy people.   However, e-pass is becoming a business as highlighted in newspapers.

Drumstick / Moringa: 3 INR to 30 INR, and then back to 15 INR

Image
Hi Everyone -- Hope you are doing well and staying safe. Its been months, and I am catching up again. In this blog, I will discuss about drumsticks (Moringa) price variations and the mindset of a farmer, of course myself and not quoting anyone. :) Just a background, to all my international readers, below is an image of drumstick. However, it is called as " Moringa " in many countries.  Drumstick is not a chicken . :(. It is a vegetable in our country - India. In last two months, I saw price of one kg drumstick/moringa moved from 3 INR to 30 INR.  Of course, it is a good amount for a farmer. But, I was wondering,  what happened? I did not do anything special. It is the same farm, same workers and me too.  Same as stock market. :).. Suddenly I see ups and downs. So, what changed the price from 3 to 30?. 1. Did demand go-high for drumstick in last one month? - Yes, this is the logical answer , anyone would give. - Where is the demand coming from suddenly? - More consumers? 2. Th
