Pumpkin harvesting..... (poosani kai)
My dear social friends, brothers and sisters :)...
I trust everyone is doing well. In this blog, I am going to share the progress of pumpkin harvesting, which I explained in previous blog:
https://blog.prabakarpaulsami.com/2022/10/trying-out-pumpkin.html
Health benefits of pumpkin:
Rich in vitamins,
minerals and antioxidants, pumpkin is incredibly healthy. What's more,
its low calorie content makes it a weight-loss-friendly food. Its
nutrients and antioxidants may boost your immune system, protect your eyesight, lower your risk of certain cancers and promote heart and skin health.
As I said in previous blog, it is a short-term crop. I have already harvested more than 8 tons. :).
But the experience was awesome. Please check pumpkin flower below...
When I walk around the farm, or going around pumpkin, this flower was gigantic, very attractive and royal. Though it was not king or queen of flower, but it had the majestic look. :)
Now coming to the plant itself, please check out previous post. I had few meters gap in between each plant. But now, I cant event get inside. So much green, lush green.
It refreshes you and your stress is out.. :).. My weekday IT stress was definitely out...
Here is one more pic, with pumpkin hiding inside. Please check it out... I could very well remember one proverb: "hiding an entire pumpkin inside the rice"
Now, coming to one vegetable itself: It was around 5+ kg easily. Please check out below picture...
Some more from my car, which was ready for sharing with my friends... )
Hope, everyone enjoyed this reading and got the experience too.
Now, coming to the interesting part, how much money I made here? huhhhh...
Farm price per kg: 3 INR or 4 INR. I should be harvesting 10 tons, so you got the amount. Is it good for a farmer?. Definitely NO! .. It was 3 months farm work without adding any other expenses. Also, it is obvious, why everyone is giving up farming...
What is the selling price? Selling price is: 16 to 20 INR per kg.
Summary:
Farming is an experience, it refreshes you, makes you grounded etc... I enjoy this experience, assuming one day farmers will get base price for their hard-work and farm products.
My pumpkin harvesting is getting over. Had a good experience and sharing the same with you all too!
OK, My dear social friends, brothers and sisters.... See you all in the next one...
