Summer is all about Mangoes....
My dear social friends, brothers and sisters ...
It is me, blushing in below picture - my daughter's comment about this pic (i.e. look at a software dev...lol..) and her click, and the next pic is her photographic experiments...
This time it is peak summer (above 100F :( ) in India.
Two important seasons to call out this in blog:
1. Mango season
2. Palm Water / Palm Nectar / Padhaneer and Ice Apples season
Mango Season:
I planted many trees around 2016. Exactly 10 years ago. An interesting moment this time… My kids were asking to buy mangoes from shop. I said, No, and explained all the processes used to make it ripe. As usual kids were bored with my boring comments. I told why don’t you visit our farm, harvest mangoes from there and try out the process. You could also gift few to your friends.. This raised their antenna!
All agreed and visited farm. Kids saw the mango trees, various varieties of mangoes. They were able to reach out the mangoes easily. Please see below picture. An interesting quote came out. “Dad, did you plant these trees”. I said, yes. I did. Did you grow these trees?, yes, I did. They were so curious and suddenly all the love towards me...
I also explained to my kids about the process of harvesting. If you don’t follow proper process, it will hurt your skin…
It is also good to see harvesting trees.. it gives happiness, freshness and rejuvenates you. I was so happy to see this! A good break from work. :)
Letz move on...
Next season: Palm water / Palm Nectar / Ice apple season:
These trees were planted by my dad when he was very young. I am blessed enough to harvest “ice apples” or palm nectar from these trees. Kids were happy to see ice apples in trees.
I planed around few coconut trees as well 10 years go and they were welcoming us with harvesting too. Please see few pictures from these coconut trees. I planted these trees along with mango and guava trees.
OK, everyone. Thank you for reading this.... :) Sharing is caring!... Sharing what I experienced in last week..
We will catch up in the next blog and take care!
Bye, Nandri. Take care!
